Workshop Schedule

All workshops are free and especially appropriate for Pre-K to 8th grade teachers and K-12 students, although workshops are open to all. Please pre-register to save your seat! Call SCRAP @ 503-294-0769 or email carol@scrapaction.org.


11:30-12:15 Puppet-Making Workshop: What better way to educate kids about the 3 R’s, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, than with a puppet made out of scrap materials? Create your reuse character and debut it in the puppet show!

12:15-12:30 Raffle: Premium SCRAP/Art/Gift Certificates

12:30-1:00pm Puppet Show: Be the first to see the reuse characters created in Workshop #1 in action! Performed by workshop participants and the Mudeye Puppet Company.

1:00-1:45 Book Making: Create a journal, sketchbook or “scrapbook” from reclaimed materials using traditional and not-so-traditional techniques.

2:00-2:45 How to Start a Scrap Center in Your Classroom: Get all the information and inspiration you need to start a scrap collection area in your classroom. Make your own signs and receive free collection bins.

3:00-3:30 Back 2 SCRAP Fashion Show “Head 2 Toe SCRAP”: Come see all the hottest home-made fashions! Reuse is all the rage every season!

3:45-4:30 Reuse Instrument Making: What sound quality does paper have inside a cardboard tube? We’ll jam with examples and make our own scrappy sound contraptions!

4:45-5:30 Master Recyclers What can really be recycled curbside? Come test your sorting skills against a Master, and learn about current trends in the recycling industry.
